Dissonance

This painting portrays cognitive dissonance, a state in which thoughts, beliefs and actions aren’t alligned. When these three aren’t alligned, we feel like something is wrong, like something is itching our souls. Cause control seems comfortable, it usually seems easiest to suppress emotions and to force ourselves to believe thoughts that validate our actions. while in fact, the only way to make the itching stop is by acknowledging that our emotions are the guide. This makes space to a different and more enduring approach: letting our actions allign with our emotions. The only thing that remains is courage.
This painting invites the viewers to ask themselves: “what am I not allowing myself to feel?”
